Kevin Michael Cripps

En détail :

Originally from Vancouver Canada, Kevin Michael currently resides in the UK, where he holds the position of Head of Singing at the Guildford School of Acting (GSA). He holds a Dip Mus from McEwan University, and MA in the Practice of Voice and Singing from the University of Surrey. In Canada, Kevin Michael split his time between teaching full time at Capilano University on the Musical Theatre and Acting for Stage and Screen programmes, performing as an actor, and working as a musical director and vocal coach.

Some favourite acting credits include the Western Canadian premier of The Light in the Piazza, the first regional professional production of Les Miserables, Peter and the Starcatcher, Cowboy Bob in Footloose, Caractacus Potts in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and Jud Fry in Oklahoma.

Select music direction credits include The Drowsy Chaperone, Titanic, Les Miserables, Nine, and more recently for GSA, Amelie and Onegin.

As a vocal coach and singing teacher, Kevin Michael values the individuality of each student. As such, he believes in a more multilingual and bespoke approach to voice training. This way of working promotes the idea that there is ‘more than one road to a destination’ and supports the sourcing of tools that are right for the individual student.

Kevin has been a guest speaker for The Association of Teachers of Singing (AOTOS), the Musical Theatre Educator’s Alliance (MTEA) and has appeared on two episodes of This is a Voice' podcast with Jeremy Fisher and Dr Gillyanne Kayes. He is also a contributing author to “Be the Change: Learning and Teaching for the Creative Industries”, a published collection of essays on changing attitudes in teaching and learning in the arts.

He is currently the External Examiner for both the BA and MA musical theatre programmes at Associated Studios London, and the new MA in musical theatre at Chichester University. Kevin Michael enjoys a continued guest teaching position at Bernstein School of Musical Theatre (BSMT) in Bologna Italy, and has taught as guest lecturer in NYC, Chicago, Philadelphia, Shanghai, Hongkong, and is now very much looking forward to working in Belgium with the students at Talents Academy.
